Could you outsmart the infamous Deacon Brodie?

March 2025

We're thrilled to announce the launch of our latest historical escape room adventure, "The Deacon's Cabinet." This immersive experience will take you back in time to the 18th century workshop of Deacon William Brodie - the enigmatic Edinburgh craftsman, locksmith and councillor whose double life as a cunning thief inspired Robert Louis Stevenson's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde"!

This historical heist escape room combines an authentic setting, intricate puzzles, and rich live-actor storytelling. Set in 1788 as the city gathers to witness Brodie's execution, players must seize the opportunity to search for his hidden fortune. The challenge lies in unlocking the secrets of Brodie's infamous cabinet. But Brodie was a canny man and master of deception, his intricate cabinet won’t give up it’s secrets easily…

Escape The Past has garnered acclaim for our unique blend of local history, interactive escape games and immersive theatre. Our first room, "The Anatomist," received multiple awards including the coveted Trip Advisors Travellers Choice Award – placing it in the top 10% of attractions worldwide.
